Royal Wedding Indeed!

What a fun distraction from real life today was.

Kate married William, a regular girl married her Prince....sigh....

I am normally not into weddings, actually I am for the most part rather cynical about junk like that, but for some strange reason I was completely enthralled with it all today. Some friends and I got together and threw a few things together and watched every bit of it!!

The tiny Union Jack I found and hung in my front window.

We also decorated the tree in my front yard, so everyone on our street could participate.

We wanted the decor to be subtle...we came close.

The food was a collection of all our favorites.

We all had our fake Diana/Katheryn rings from Walmart.

One of the highlights for me was the head wear. Oh my goodness, what were they thinking?

Queen Mum looked wonderful.

More crazy head wear.

And more....
And more.....

And More..

And more!

Then there was Miss. Pippa. Holy cow did she ever look fantastic!

Katheryn, what a stunning dress. She was breathtaking.

To end the magical festivities, and the absolute highlight for me was the extraordinary hairy Priest.
He has the longest eyebrows I have ever seen in my entire life. Wowza!

I am grateful for good friends.

I am grateful for the weather.

I am grateful for understanding and caring.

The sounds of silence

Today was bar non the worst day I have had in a while. I was driving for 5 hours today, back and forth to Edmonton 4 times.....with Nora screaming all the while.

So right now....the silence is my best friend.

I am grateful for good friends.

I am grateful for scones.

I am grateful for honesty.

Party girl looking rough

I am not sure, but I think this single picture summarizes my exact feelings in every aspect in life right now.
Because I missed MM this week I wanted to post something.
I heard this artist on SNL a few weeks ago and I loved it. I thought it was really catchy, I loved the beat and It is fun.

Jessie J-Price Tag

And I heard this one on the radio the other day and I was flooded with memories. I just love it!

Baz Luhrmann-Everybody's Free

I am getting everything ready for the royal wedding tomorrow. I can't wait to show you everything I have planned. Its gonna be a fun waste of the day!

I am grateful for job opportunities.

I am grateful for the weather.

I am grateful Nora can make me laugh immediately after she makes me want to pull out my hair.

A day late and a dollar short.

This past week has been a rough one, so thank you for your patience in regards to my blog. I am back and will not miss anymore.

So I will pick up where I have left off....

Last weekend (for Easter) we went on a camping trip as a family, and with friends. And in true "our family style" it was a bit of a gong show. But I think over all everyone had a good time.

Drew bought a new trailer for our family, so this weekend was going to be its test run. It was no surprise to me that we were 2 hours late leaving, and an hour into the drive we blew a tire. The reason I was not surprised is because I have been a member of this family for a while now. Nothing surprises me anymore.

Our blown tire, this bad boy set us back another hour. Thankfully it was very beautiful out. SO I could walk around the side of the highway and take fantastic scenic pictures like this...

And this one.

This is when the angelic horns starting trumpeting and Jeff emerged to save the day!

Superhero Jeff (hes the one in the awesome blue outfit if you could not tell) fixing the tire!!!

Horribly bored Sam on the side of the road.

Horribly bored J on the side of the road.

Horribly bored girls in the truck on the side of the road.

Jeff fixing the tire finally put a smile on Drew's face.

We arrived at the camp site later then planned, but my parents and brother had been there all morning, cooking a roast.

Dinner was wonderful that night. Nothing better then family, friends and tons of food.

The trees behind my parents trailer. The children played for hours and hours. They would emerge every so often crying and needing a band aid, at the end of the weekend the children all smelled horrible, they all had scratches on their faces, and huge smiles from ear to ear.

Lexi's make shift boots, she got hers wet 10 seconds after we arrived, so out came the plastic bags and duct tape.

The Easter bunny came while we were there too.

Mad dash to get candy

This is the Brit learning to use a camera, and even after I explained it 3 times he still did not turn it on.

The majority of the weekend was spent playing Bocci, I really love that game, which was evidenced by the fact I won almost every game...cough, cough.

Camping TV

I love how fires are better then T.V's .Everyone just stares at them for hours mesmerized by the colours and heat. Even in the middle of the day.

We all went for a few walks around the golf course, it was such a beautiful weekend.

Dawson and I are idiots, It was so nice having him there to talk to. I'm 32 and I still cry when he leaves. I really love you kid!

I am grateful, really really grateful the weather is getting nicer. The grass is getting green, and the days are longer. I love it!

I am grateful for the royal wedding on Friday, I am not ashamed to admit that I can't wait..I am going to spend the day watching everything, eating scones and cream, and envying Kate....sigh

I am grateful for sleep.

Seasons of my life

I did not post anything on my blog yesterday. Mostly because I could not stomach the idea of writing one more thing about Nora and her rain of terror this is still in full force and I have begun reading behavior modification books.... God, grant me the serenity...

Honesty I have been feeling a tad picked on by the parental universe this week, I was starting to feel down about all this. About my inability to parent my daughter the way I want, the way I am reacting/responding to her actions, how I just want to scream into my pillow....

Then today I received a letter from a reader. I don't know this woman, but she wrote me a sweet little letter and shared with me that she had read my entire blog! My own mother does not even read my blog, and a total stranger has read it all??
Her last sentence was this...You are engaging and honest and brave and we are listening and laughing and crying right along side of you,  so keep going!!

To you my new dear friend, I thank you. It gave me such a boost and lifted my spirits, you will never know what your words and the timing of them meant to me. You are too kind.

So tonight I am going to pretend that olive oil was not dumped on my floors, that Nora did not spill her entire potty full of pee on my floor, and that orange juice was not spilled on my floors either. I am just going to have a relaxing night and put paraffin wax on my feet, do a facial, whilst possibly main lining Valium.

I am grateful for superhero Keira who sat with my children so I could help my friends with their house. THANK YOU!!!

I am grateful for the warmer weather, I wore shorts today!

I am grateful for the seasons of my life. I have decided the seasons of my life will be categorized by what I happen to be sweeping off the floor 10 times a day.
Here they are: Sand season, snow season, and dead grass and leaves season. I am presently in the dead grass/leaves season.

I am grateful our birthday dinner for our friend went so well, and by well I mean no one got food poisoning.
Deans Birthday Dinner. He turned 40! (32)

We even got him his little sea critter salad. I tried an Octopus.

Bruschetta home made (it was amazing) and prosciutto wrapped Asparagus

Deans Birthday Cake. He did not even share. I put the cake (this is number 4  of 4 attempts) in front of him and he grabbed the largest serving spoon there was and started devouring it. It was delightful to watch.

This is him still not sharing with the rest of us. The cake was pretty amazing if I do say so myself!

I am grateful today my dear friend Tasha left on her trip to Europe, I am feeling so excited for her, and a bit nervous too. I am really going to miss her. I am grateful she came into the city earlier this week so we could go out for dinner for her Birthday and I could say good bye.

You are so beautiful, and I wish you all the best on your trip. I wish you rest, love, adventure, good books, sun and wonderful food. I hope you have an amazing time, and I can't wait to hear all about it. I will miss you!

This is what she was staring at, on the roof of the West Edmonton mall. Kind of beautiful.
